Kalkaska history

 

Kalakaska

The Kalkaskaian began publishing on Mar. 6, 1874 by Charles P. Sweet. The first issue had 60 subscribers. It was Republican. It merged with Kalkaska Leader to form Kalkaska Leader and the Kalkaskian.

 

The Kalkaska Leader began publishing circa May1878 by Dennis & Tinklepaugh. It was Republican. It ceased in Nov. 1910 when it merged with The Kalkaskaian to form Kalkaska Leader and the Kalkaskian.

 

The Kalkaska Leader and the Kalkaskian began publishing on Dec. 1, 1910 by the Kalkaska Publishing Company. In June 1926 it became The Leader and the Kalkaskian published by Paul D. Ratlift.
