Crawford history

Grayling

Crawford Avalanche began publishing circa May, 1879 by Maurer & Masters. Oscar Palmer took over the paper in 1882. By 1969 the title was lengthened to Crawford County Avalanche and Richard Milliman was the publisher.

 

Northern Democrat began publishing circa 1887 by Joseph & Len J. Patterson. In June 1895 the title changed to Grayling News.

 

Grayling News began publishing on June 13, 1895 by Jay Allen. July 7, 1898 was its final issue, after which it was absorbed by the Crawford Avalanche.
