Alden

The Alden Wave began publishing circa 1896 by D.B. Oviatt.

 

Bellaire

The Bellaire Breeze began publishing on Sept. 29, 1881 by Albert S. Abbot. It did not survive long.

 

The Bellaire Independent began publishing on June 20, 1895 by Bellaire Publishing Co. It was Republican.

 

Antrim County Sentinel began publishing circa 1899 by Ray & Anderson. It was Republican.

 

The Antrim County Record began publishing one July 15, 1920 by Edgar E. Bedell. It ceased on July 2, 1931.

 

The Bellaire Record was a weekly published by C.W. Goddard. It began on July 9, 1931.

 

The Antrim County New began publishing on June 19, 1947 by Kenneth C. Parker.

 

The Bellaire Spectator began publishing on June 19, 1972.

 

Central Lake

The Central Lake Torch began publishing circa 1892. It was Republican. In 1896 C.E. Ramsey was the publisher. In 1962 it became the Central Lake and Antrim Torch only to shorten simply to The Torch on Mar. 17, 1963.

 

Elk Rapids

Elk Rapids Eagle began publishing on March 31, 1865 by Elvin L. Sprague. Elvin Sprague migrated to Elk Rapids in 1853, one year after the village was laid out. Sprague was a member of the First Congregational Church of Traverse City, where he served some time as deacon. He also served several years as Antrim County Treasurer. On January 1, 1866 the Eagle became the Traverse Bay Eagle and moved to Traverse City

 

The Traverse Bay Progress began publishing on May 1872 by Elvin L. Sprague. It began as a monthly and became a weekly in Jan. 1873. It was later published by H.E. Gemberling. On Oct. 7, 1881 the paper became the Elk Rapids Progress published by Benjamin F. Davis. It was Republican.

 

The Antrim County News began publishing circa 1909 by H.J. Briggs.

 

The Town Meeting began circa mid 1970s by Town Meeting Inc.

 

Ellsworth

The Ellsworth Tradesman began publishing circa early 1925 by Ellsworth Press. It ceased on June 29, 1933.

 

Mancelona

The Antrim County Herald began publishing circa 1879 by Clark S. Edwards and LeGrand E. Slussar. By 1884 it changed names to the Mancelona Herald and was published by L.E. Slussar until 1904 when he sold the plant. It was Republican.
